Why The European and African Centre for Research, Training and Development?
EAC* has come to the light after series of group discussions on topics such as enhancing the relationship between African and European people, wherein the topic of migration was discussed also.
The statistics of number of immigrants has not improved since 1951; in 1951 the number was less than two million worldwide, in 2014 the number has reached around 55 millions according to UNHCR. WHY? Is it a shortage of NGOs, a shortage of funding, or a lack of commitment? Over this period there have many national and international NGOs working hard in this field, hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent on it, and many regional and international conventions to organize migration and protect immigrants have taken place. Yet the number has continued to climb.

Today the number of people leaving their home countries in Africa has increased. From one side due to human rights violations, poverty and lack of development, and from the other side, the various pull factors from Europe. As a result they prey victims of human trafficking and smuggling where thousands lose their lives in the desert or Mediterranean Sea.
We at EAC believe that a more effective solution than the approaches hitherto being implemented is required.
